How much is a parrot in the Philippines?

Parrot prices in the Philippines depend mostly on the species: lovebirds and cockatiels are the most affordable, conures and parakeets sit in the middle, and African greys, eclectus and cockatoos cost the most. Age, sex, colour and whether a bird is hand-raised also affect the price. Budget for a cage, food and a vet check too.

What affects a parrot's price
Two birds of the same species can be priced differently. These are the main reasons:
- Species: bigger, longer-lived and rarer parrots cost more
- Hand-raised and tame: more work to raise, but far easier to live with
- Age: chicks for handfeed, weaned young birds and proven breeding pairs are all priced differently
- Sex: DNA-sexed birds, and pairs, cost more than unsexed birds
- Colour mutations: rarer colours cost more
- Paperwork: birds from a licensed, DENR-permitted breeder
The costs after you bring a bird home
The bird is only the start. Plan for these too:
- A cage big enough for the species, plus perches and toys
- Food: pellets or seed, and fresh fruit and vegetables
- An avian vet check-up
- Replacement toys: parrots chew through them
